With summer around the corner, kids will be out of school and ready to have fun! While spending summer at grandma’s is always an option, Hunterdon is home to many fun and accessible activities for your child to partake in this summer (and for some, year-round)! So, if you’re looking to spend time with the entire family, keep reading for some activities that everyone can enjoy!

Paint Party Farm (Ringoes)

From group painting sessions, summer camp, birthday parties, 1-on-1 tutoring, educational learning, and more, Paint Party Farm in Ringoes is where creativity and nature come together to create the perfect family fun day! Whether you’re looking to take a trip to the farm for one of their public paint sessions, or you want to attend an event such as Puppy Palooza happening on June 25th, the farm offers a multitude of opportunities to come and let out your inner Picasso while interacting with life on the farm!

 Melicks Town Farm (Califon)

We can’t think of something that screams “summer” more than freshly picked peaches from Melicks Town Farm! From July to September, all are welcome from 9am to 6pm, seven days a week, to pick their own peaches (and apples, starting in August)! Whether you’re enjoying them on their own or making cobbler with your peaches, the kids will love spending time outside on Melicks’ farm and getting a tasty treat out of it!

Frenchtown Roller Rink (Frenchtown)

Roller Rinks may seem like a thing of the past, but Frenchtown Roller Rink still invites everyone to “Let the good times roll” in all of their groovy glory! So, put on your skates and get in the rink – the music and lighting vibes will have you grooving in no time. With a rink, arcade games, a snack shack, and more, it’s a guaranteed good time for everyone who visits the rink! Visit the site for full details on session hours, pricing, and even private parties.

Pine Creek Mini Golf (West Amwell)

There’s something about mini golf that makes us feel like we’re kids again, too! This world class mini golf course is home to two courses, both 18 holes each, and is expansive enough to keep adults engaged while allowing children to test their skills with a golf club! Besides the fun of golfing, you’ll also enjoy the beautiful scenery and perfectly placed greenery to enhance the whole experience.

Black River & Western Railroad (Flemington or Ringoes)

If you’re looking for an adventure that involves sightseeing and history, your chariot awaits! Hop on board a round-trip ride through Hunterdon County on the Black River & Western Railroad! With stations in either Flemington or Ringoes, you can enjoy a 40 minute trip (plus 15-20 minutes to turn the train around) through Hunterdon. At the Ringoes station, you’ll have a chance to visit the museum where you can experience over 160 years of history – displays and artifacts tell the story of the volunteer railroaders that keep BR&W alive, the railroad and transportation history of Hunterdon County, and much more. There’s even an operating model railroad! Don’t forget to give the Gift Shop a visit, located in the historic civil-war-era station!

Hunterdon Parks. Recreation & Sports (County-wide)

There’s no better time to get out into all the nature that Hunterdon County has to offer than the summer! If you’re a resident, you probably already know how beautiful our county is, but we’re here to remind you of all that you and the kids can do outdoors! With plentiful biking trails, walking/hiking trails, sky/water adventures, sports events, and parks, there’s always a new experience waiting for you! Some of our favorites include: Participating in a game of Pickleball at the Flemington Pickleball Club, visiting the shaded and beautiful trails of Kenwood Lock Gorge, and paddle boarding, and kayaking with Yellow Dog Paddle in Clinton, Spruce Run, Round Valley, Merrill Creek, or The Delaware River!
