Enjoy Bicycling this Fall in Hunterdon County, NJ
Hunterdon County, NJ is absolutely stunning this time of year. Bicycling offers a unique opportunity to take in the change of season.
Multi use trails become enveloped in a canopy of color. Open landscapes begin to display beautiful foliage. Farms and farm stands offer a bounty of fall harvests.
Hunterdon’s quaint towns all provide wonderful places to stop for rest and refreshment. Who doesn’t love a great cup of coffee, hot chocolate, or warm cider on a brisk fall day? Look for the “Cyclists Welcome” decal at many businesses across the county.

Biking the Trail Rides
If you like to bicycle on trails, away from cars and distractions, then the family friendly Columbia Trail is for you!
The advantage of riding any of the trails out of High Bridge is that upon return there are many coffee shops, restaurants and an outstanding brewery. With an abundance of free parking and access to port-a-johns, High Bridge covers all of the necessary amenities needed for a great day of bicycling.

Mountain Biking
If you prefer a little more adventure, then the Nassau Trail or the Flow Trails, both in High Bridge, will give you plenty of fun and challenge.
While in High Bridge, stop in and enjoy Scout’s Coffee Bar and Mercantile, or the Polka Dot Cafe.
Also check out the Frenchtown Preserve. It is a hidden mountain biking treasure for beginners, families and those looking to spend time in the woods.
Following your ride, head into Frenchtown to visit the river town’s quaint shops and restaurants.

Gravel Biking
The sale of gravel bikes and sales of road bikes with disc brakes is becoming a bigger slice of the bicycle market. Gravel riding is having a moment.
One of our favorite Fall gravel rides in the county is Hills and Gravel Combo. This is a perfect short gravel ride that could also be extended for the more advanced riders.
One of the best features of this ride comes after the ride when the bike is packed up and you’re off to find ice cream, lunch, coffee or even some great shopping. There’s lots of bike parking, welcoming businesses and a bicycle shop right in heart of Frenchtown.

Road Riding
The fall is always beautiful for road riding in Hunterdon County, NJ. And, your rides can take you to some pretty awesome places around the county.
One of our favorite rides starts in Flemington and travels out to Beneduce Vineyards in Pittstown, NJ. The winery is adjacent to Sky Manor Airport. It is a great place to stop to watch the planes coming in and out of the airport. Sky Café offers breakfast, lunch or just a quick snack.
This 25 mile route does not disappoint. Upon your return to Flemington, check out Stangl Road, which features restaurants, coffee shop, ice cream shop, and unique retailers. Saturdays, the Stangl Market features more than 30 artisan vendors offering food, crafts, jewelry, and more. View Route
Hunterdon County is a perfect destination to find some of the best New Jersey bike trails for all bicyclists, ages and skill levels. The village of Stockton is access to the Delaware Canal Towpath. Want to experience the unique shops and dining of Lambertville/New Hope or Frenchtown? Head south towards Lambertville or north towards Frenchtown for a peaceful and easy ride along the Delaware River to your destination of choice! Take in the views of the river and charming homes along the way.
