Let’s explore Milford, New Jersey!  A small town along the Delaware River, Milford’s unique historical buildings are set amid the natural beauty of the Delaware River.

The views from Milford

One of the best views of the Delaware is just a hike away!  A hike in the Milford Bluffs Preserve takes you through forests and open fields and leads to a stunning view of the river from atop the steep bluff. This perfect mix of physical activity and breathtaking scenery will leave you with great pictures and an even greater experience.

Milford’s Bridge Street

Firstly, I’m sure you’ve worked up an appetite so now it’s time to eat!  El Charro del Rio is a popular family-owned restaurant serving authentic Mexican cuisine, made from scratch each day with fresh ingredients.  Ceviche, camarones tacos, and tacos al pastor served with grilled pineapple are popular menu items.  Don’t miss the authentic churros for dessert!

After lunch, take a quick stroll down Bridge Street. Allen’s Antiques is absolutely packed with antiques, trinkets, jewelry, furniture, and collectibles.  Riverside Treasures is a gift boutique featuring local and fair trade artisan goods.

Above all, if you’re looking for a special treat, stop by Chocolate in the Oven. Each morning they fill their bakery cases with fresh scratch baked goodies including Italian pastries, cheesecakes, pies, fruit tarts, cookies, candy and homemade ice cream, all made on the premises.

Just outside of Milford

A short trip outside of town, Bobolink Dairy & Bakehouse is well known for their artisanal cheese and bread.  The farm hosts tours, cheese and bread classes and special events. Cheeses are made from raw grass-fed milk, and bread/pastries are made with heritage and heirloom grains, “risen slowly for maximum flavor and nutrition.” The farm store also offers grass-fed beef and seasonal local goods.

At Mad Lavender Farm, you can enjoy nature with goat yoga, workshops, lavender field yoga and wreath making.  Pick your own lavender begins in mid-June.  Take a stunning photo in a sea of purple flowers to remember your trip.

Dine in Milford

The romantic ambiance of the cozy stone-walled dining room at The Milford House is perfect for date night.  The restaurant serves skillfully prepared seafood and modern comfort food. The tavern area offers pub eats and friendly conversation. Once known as the Milford Oyster House, the shellfish remains a popular menu item.

Descendants Brewing Company is located in an iconic Victorian with giant windows overlooking a bubbling stream.  Owners Joe and Ana David chose the name “Descendants” as a nod to their family history and the legacy of the Old Ship Inn, built-in 1879.  Inside the pub retains its European charm with rich details including exposed beams and an original Victorian tin ceiling.  Descendants’ food and drink selections artfully represent the history and flavors of the UK, Belgium, Germany, and the US.  Descendants features an extensive collection of over 200 whiskeys from Scotland, Ireland, and the US.
